If this isn't symbolic of French disregard and lack of appreciation for its own freedom. British vets are protesting a plan to build a dump at the site of a D-Day air jump landing. Although I have a history education, I'm not usually one that says we have to preserve everything remotely historical. I'm also not one who thinks that France has to be completely beholden to the allies who liberated them, but to build a dump on this site is almost offensive. I could understand it if they could develop the land, because in some small way that would be a testament to the sacrifice made by the young men of other nations. But a dump? Shameful.
