Here is what scares me right now. Barack Obama is running an idealist's campaign in a world in which a premium should be placed on realism. Idealism is a sirens' song at times when people want to cower from realism, though, and pursuing the sirens' song is rarely what is best. I fear the American people are headed down an even more painful road than the one they chose to travel down in 1976.
