Maggie Gallagher

All joking aside (see post below), revelations that Maggie Gallagher was contracted to promote the marriage initiative is going to have a much deeper affect than the Armstrong Williams story. Williams was not really the mainstream columnist that Gallagher is. As an amateur political commentator, it is more than a little disappointing to see that Gallagher would do something that casts everything that she has written on marriage into doubt, even if those are legitimately her opinions.

Instapundit had a few links to this. It seems that Gallagher was promoting her own books and research. As such, I think that's somewhat different than Armstrong Williams. Also, the dollar value is a huge difference.

The amount Armstrong Williams accepted FEELS like a bribe. I'm with the folks who wonder how the Department of Education has $240,000 to throw away like this. But, then, I'm all for them disbanding the Department of Education anyway.

Oh, I also forgot to mention the networks who took BILLIONS during the Clinton administration to produce anti-drug messages in their programming. The money was authorized by Congress (a Clinton congress?,) the content programming never materialized, but the networks got the money anyway.
