Allen makes his move

Virginia Senator George Allen kicked off his 2006 re-election today, and in doing so he may be building a conservative ground swell for the 2008 Presidential election:
Sen. George Allen rallied fellow Virginia Republicans to his 2006 reelection campaign Saturday, telling them that he would stand for low taxes, energy independence and opposition to "activist judges" on the U.S. Supreme Court.
Conservatives around the country have been demoralized at the actions of their elected leaders this year. They already know George Allen has a solid conservative track record, and by opening his re-election campaign by pledging himself to winning conservative values, he may bind enough conservatives to his side to win the nomination in 2008.
