Thankful to be an American

This weekend I began moving into and painting my house. By about 6 I was tired, hot, and cranky. After swearing at a ceiling fan which was not cooperating with me, I stopped to realize how lucky we all are in this country, even when the cards are stacked against us in our personal lives. We have the luxury of debating Bush or Kerry. We can choose whether or not we care to see propaganda films like Fahrenheit 7-11. There is a moderate safety net for those who fall on hard times, yet limited enough regulation that we can take big risks on grand new ideas that may or may not change the world. After I came out of my daze, I again swore at the ceiling fan, but I did so happily, knowing that the fan was a pretty small concern.
