And in NASCAR

NASCAR's failure to have a written rule book comes back to bite them in the ass. They know-no, they want-Dale Earnhardt Jr to win a points championship. A title by Jr. means money for NASCAR. Unfortunately, they followed a bad policy this year. If a driver swore on radio or TV waves, they were fined and docked 25 points. I can understand the fine for off the track behavior. It actually should have been stiffer. Docking the guys points was idiotic, though. Docking points is for on the track activities. After setting two precedents, NASCAR managed to paint themselves into a corner when their biggest star let his tounge slip in a post race interview. Now they face the spector of changing the winner of the championship with a penalty for a rather minor infraction. Other drivers will take notice, too, and some of the color that people love about NASCAR will drain out of the sport as the post race interviews become even more canned than they already were.

Good job, NASCAR. You effed up, yet again.
