I wanted to put our a thank you today to J.Rice and RPM for extending me gmail invites. I learned that those invites go into your bulk folder when sent to a Yahoo email address, so I unfortunately never saw the one from J.Rice a few months back. As for RPM, it's nice to see an opposition voice around here that's civil and willing to offer an invite like that. The two of you may be this site's most prolific commentors over the past five months, and I thank you for that as well.

You're welcome, Jib. It has been very interesting to read your thoughts and comments, and to respond to those as best as I could.
I was not sure if this election was a win-win or a lose-lose :-)
Win-win: I actually like some of the Republican policies especially the tax cuts. I do not like how the cuts have been executed though, which is different. Also, I am a software consultant, and my company does offshore business too, and the Republicans are generally true capitalists, and are pro-business. So I was with them on that part.
On the other hand, I really wanted Bush to be defeated because as a principle if a leader makes a mistake, especially a leader of such a powerful and influencing country like the US, he has to step down, or be voted out. Besides, he did not really execute the tax cuts well, and did not achieve much outside of improving the defense-related companies' fortunes :-)
So either way, it would have been a win for me.
Lose-lose: Bush did a very bad job of being a President - war time or not. So his winning had no hope for me for the next 4 years. In fact, I dreaded the eventuality.
On the other hand, the Dems could have come up with a better candidate because Kerry did not really appeal to me as a charismatic, strong President who could lead the country out of the war. He was plain, and it was not like he had a clear cut plan for handling the most immediate situation - the war and the pullout from Iraq.
So either way, it would have been a loss for me.
In the end, my dislike for the ineptitude of Bush made me decide to be anti-Bush and vote for Kerry. (fyi)
So now that it's all over and Bush is back, I am going to be an optimist and assume that it was a win-win situation :-)
I have developed a lot of respect for you. You have a very strong point of view and a bias in one direction, but you respectfully argue your point, unlike some of the other right-wingers I have come across. That's what intrigued me and made me come back to your blog again. Keep up the good work and make sure you stay balanced, maybe a little more to the center, if you can ;-)
Happy gmailing. Just to let you know, they have enabled POP3 access now, which will let you download the emails to your mail program like Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape Mail or Thunderbird.
